Did you ever think you would have a career in fashion?

I always thought it would be really fun to have my own store but never realized it could be a possibility. The obstacles seemed too big-it would take too much money to set up a store, purchase inventory and hire employees. Etcetera has been such a welcome surprise. For about a week four times a year, I get to be that boutique owner. I get the best parts of owning my own boutique without the overhead and/or headaches of a full-time business.

What's the best thing about Etcetera?

The time I get to spend with my friends/clients on the phone and in my home is invaluable. Providing a service that makes them feel good about themselves and how they look is rewarding. And the partnership with Etcetera has been fantastic. The company supports the consultants every step of the way, and to be in the company of so many professional and successful women has been inspiring.

Describe a great client moment ...

I have a client who recently lost a lot of weight. Nothing in her closet fit. Over three or four shows, we have created a new wardrobe that she can add to each season to freshen her up for the new year. Seeing her smile when she tries on pieces and creating different looks from season to season has been so fun. To see her confidence increase has been exciting and rewarding - it is great to know that I played a part in making her feel that way.

What's your favorite Etcetera purchase?

Three years ago at my first spring show, I bought the Java skirt, a fun embroidered batik skirt in chocolate-white-aqua, toffee and black colors in it. It is the PERFECT skirt for so many occasions - running around town, an afternoon lunch, an evening out or even a spring/summer wedding! Every year I have added a new black, chocolate, aqua or white Etcetera top to it and every time I wear it, whether it be with a little white t-shirt and flip-flops or a nice knit top and dressy sandals or pumps, I get stopped and complimented - people always want to know how they can buy it!
